Challenge 1
Adaptation of the e-commerce platform to new business requirements. Software development for a new onex.store e-commerce with the use of modern design along with SEO optimization, confirmed by an external company audit and improvement of customer data security based on penetration tests carried out by an external company.
More about the challenge
The project onex.softwarehouse team had the opportunity to work on is a online store that was previously used to sell Microsoft software licenses. The new version of the store also allows its customers to purchase hardware and network equipment as well as peripheral devices. The customer can log in to their account, save their basket and view the status of placed orders. The newly created store also allows you to compare products, configure sets, quickly search and filter products. The store uses technology based on artificial intelligence algorithms to monitor customer behavior and display content dedicated to a specific customer.
Solution
Actions taken
By analyzing customer behavior at individual stages of the purchasing process, we adjusted the appearance and navigation of the store to the business requirements in such a way as to facilitate navigation for its users. In addition, we created a solution that allowed the introduction of a new service to the store: DaaS (Device as a Service) – a monthly subscription (rental of equipment, software, technical support).
Results
which translated into an increase in sales and a reduction in the number of “abandoned carts”.
Challenge 2
Improving security of the e-commerce platform. A company using an e-commerce platform stores the address data of several thousand customers, their logins, passwords, and contact details. In accordance with the GDPR, these data must be handled and stored with special care.
More about the challenge
The webstore and its API have never before been tested for resistance to attacks by hackers who could access customer data in an unauthorized way. Such an undesirable scenario would significantly affect the trust of the store’s customers, and above all, it would bring huge financial losses.
Solution
Actions taken
Based on the penetration tests of the platform, the onex.developers team tracked down and eliminated places that were vulnerable to potential attacks. Additional OWASP-compliant tests assured the client’s internal IT department that the developed systems are of high quality in terms of the security of sensitive and confidential data. In addition, we have moved the current solution (previously hosted in a traditional way) to Azure.
Results
The reorganization of the system architecture we carried out allowed us to introduce a number of improvements, which translated into full scaling of the solution, and additional user traffic control made it possible to prepare the system in the event of a very large temporary load. We have also introduced security related to backups, archiving, encryption and DoS attacks.
